Thanksgiving Makeup FOTD | Monday Makeover

I’m no pro at makeup. For how much I collect, obsess over and test out makeup, I actually wear it very little in real life. That being said, I still like slapping on some eyeshadow for fun and it sometimes turns out alright 🙂 I’ve been feeling especially festive with Thanksgiving coming up this week and thought it’d be fun to share this fall look with you.

I was also going to share an outfit of the day to go along with this post, but that just wouldn’t be authentic. Here is my logic:

  1. Some of those fall/Thanksgiving outfits bloggers share on Instagram are so unrealistically hot. You’re in or around a hot kitchen all day. I’m more likely to wear a summer outfit than a fall outfit on Thanksgiving day.
  2. Being pregnant gives me an excuse to wear maternity pants, but even if I weren’t I’d still be wearing my Thanksgiving Pants. Comfort is key.screen-shot-2016-11-16-at-9-41-07-am
  3. On Thanksgiving morning I wake up, help my mom in her kitchen and chill in my pajamas until company comes and I have to put on something slightly more appropriate. But no shoes. I never wear shoes on Thanksgiving.

In conclusion, in an ongoing effort to always stay authentic here at Strong Hungry Girl, I won’t be including an outfit.

I am, however, much more likely to put on some makeup. Now, if I were hosting Thanksgiving all of this would be thrown out the window. That being said, I’m not hosting so in between waiting for the turkey to be done and my mother shoving me out of the kitchen for bothering her, I will likely have some time to sit down and play around with my makeup for a bit.screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-8-56-11-am

And this is the look that I will be doing 🙂 I don’t often do olive green eyeshadow, but when I do, it’s fall.

A dark lip is also gorgeous for fall, but not realistic for Thanksgiving. I’m a messy eater. My Rebel lipstick would be smeared across my face before I’ve even gotten to my turkey.screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-8-55-11-am

I’d much rather stick with a mauve, rosey, nude (that’s “fall-y”, right?) and instead go HAM on the eyes with olive tones and warm, rich browns.

On the lips I went with Anna from Nars. It’s the perfect mauve shade that I forgot about for most of 2016. screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-8-56-30-am

As for eyes, I knew that I wanted to use the combination of Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (a gorgeous base) and one of my only green shadows, Humid from Mac.

I also went for a dark brown, almost maroon shade to add some depth to the outer corner. Maroon = fall too in my book.

On the cheeks I wanted a neutral, rosey blush and a highlighter that wasn’t too over the top, but still pretty. I figured I would have enough natural “glow” on my face from the oven.

What fall makeup looks have you been loving? Do you wear makeup on Thanksgiving?

Aw, thank you! I rarely wear it (or half of my makeup) but it is a pretty shadow!
